A Surrey, B.C., man has been charged after police responding to a missing-person report discovered the body of his wife at the couple’s home early Wednesday.
A family member reported to RCMP early Tuesday that the woman was missing, said Cpl. Dale Carr of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT).
When investigators arrived at the family residence, they discovered the body of Tejinder Kaur Dhanoa, 32, who appeared to have met with foul play, Carr said.
The building in the upscale 13000-block of English Place was secured and IHIT was called in to conduct a homicide investigation.
The victim’s husband, Kamaljit Singh Dhanoa, 33, has been charged with second-degree murder, said Carr.
“This is a shock,” said neighbourhood resident Jodi Bennett.
“It just seemed like a normal family. You’d see the kids playing on their bikes and the mom and dad out there interacting with them.”
Carr said the couple’s two children had been placed in the care of other family members.
Dhanoa remained in custody after a court appearance Wednesday, Carr said.
