MONTREAL – A Montreal man was taken to hospital with a potential case of Ebola on Tuesday morning.
The potentially infected man, who has not been identified, was returning from a West African country affected by the Ebola epidemic.
The man was showing symptoms of the disease, the Quebec health ministry stated.
Blood samples have been sent to a lab to confirm the diagnosis, with results expected by Wednesday.
Since April 2014, 12 people have been tested for the disease in Quebec, with none coming up positive.
Since the beginning of the outbreak in Africa, more than 9,000 people have died from Ebola, primarily in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea.
