CALGARY: 19th annual Immigrants of Distinction Awards (IDA) attended by hundreds

The 19th annual Immigrants of Distinction Awards (IDA) held recently was an enormous success and attended by hundreds of guests-including myriad politicians from all stripes.  This year’s IDA theme- Inspiring New Stories, was apt indeed given the diversity of the finalists, recipients and beneficiaries. The annual  event is the  highlight for Immigrant Services Calgary which serves more than 25,000 beneficiaries annually.

Congratulations to this year’s honourees in the following categories:Achievement Under 40, Ariam Wolde-Giorgis; Arts and Culture, Vania Dimitrova; Business, Girish Agrawal; Community Service, Gurmit Kaur Sarpal; Hadassah Ksienski Distinguished Service, Carolina Dalgleish; Lifetime Achievement, Dr. Chan Wirasinghe; Organizational Diversity, Rogers; and Youth Scholarship winners Mahtab Dhaliwal, Nilufer Hasanova, Syeda Kinza Rizvi, Vidhya Bavalana and Ziad Paracha.
