A Calgary man found critically injured in a northeast parking lot died after being hit in the head, said homicide detectives.
Lorne Kvale, 55, was found unconscious in the parking lot of a strip mall in the 200 block of 52nd Street N.E. just after midnight Sunday. He died in hospital a short time later.
Police said Monday it appears there had been a fight between two small groups of people. No charges have been laid.
“The cause of the altercation is still under investigation, although it is not believed to be random in nature,” said police in a statement.
Kvale’s cause of death was a head injury caused by blunt force trauma, according to an autopsy completed on Monday.
Police said they’ve interviewed everyone involved in the fight but are asking for anyone with information to contact them.
Kvale is the city’s sixth homicide of the year.
