A second-degree murder charge has been laid in the stabbing death of a man near a house party in Surrey early Sunday.

Adrian Skara, 32, of Surrey, is accused in the slaying of 21-year-old Buta Singh Sangha.

Police allege the homicide occurred during a fight between neighbours and was not linked to gangs, drugs or organized crime.

The original call to police reported a dispute among several people in an alley off 192nd Street and 71st Avenue at about 4:00 a.m., RCMP said.

Sangha was taken from the scene by ambulance to hospital where he died later Sunday morning.
