Six men involved in the violent 2006 kidnapping of a drug dealer, his wife and a friend were found guilty Thursday in a B.C. court.
The court heard that on Feb. 22, 2006, Peter Li, a convicted drug trafficker, his wife Jennifer Pan and an associate, Xiao Cheng, were taken from their Burnaby apartment and held in a location in Richmond for 24 days.
Li was out on bail on drug trafficking and manufacturing charges at the time of the kidnapping.
While they were held, their families paid $1.3 million in ransom, making cash drops in Vancouver, Toronto and China. The money was never recovered.
Yat Fung Albert Tse, Viet Bac Nguyen, Nhan Trongly, Daniel Luis Soux and
Myles Alexander Vandrick were found guilty of kidnapping. Huong Dac Doan was found guilty of threatening violence unless a ransom was paid.
The six men will be sentenced June 28.
