Joseph Scott Young charged with second-degree murder in Tehganni Lewis’s death
Friends and family gathered Friday to remember 19-year-old Tehganni Lewis, who died Jan. 30 after he was assaulted a week earlier in an Oshawa rooming house.
Tehganni Lewis’s mother never had to wonder how her teenage son felt about her.
“There’s never a day that goes by that he don’t tell me, ‘Momma, I love you,’ ” Ann-Marie Williams-Johnson told the Star.
“I just can’t get it,” she whispered, almost to herself, just steps from where her son’s casket lay in a Toronto funeral parlour on Friday night.
The 19-year-old died Jan. 30, a week after he was viciously beaten in an Oshawa rooming house.
The man accused in his death was arrested in a dramatic fashion Thursday night when police from various jurisdictions surrounded a GO bus, with passengers locked inside with the suspected murderer, before Durham police boarded almost 30 minutes later to make the arrest.
The name of the accused, 53-year-old Joseph Scott Young, wasn’t familiar to the family.
“Don’t have a clue,” Williams-Johnson said about the man charged with second-degree murder in connection with her son’s death.
